Historical tours begin on the first floor and consist of early Colorado history, Capitol construction, several stained glass windows, Women's Gold Tapestry, Presidential portraits, and a stop outside the Senate and House of Representatives chambers. A Tour of the Dome is also offered. Tours are offered hourly from 10am-3pm. Reservations for Dome Tour are required.

The Forney Museum of Transportation is a one-of-a-kind collection of over 500 exhibits relating to historical transportation. The Forney Museum is also the home of the Union Pacific Big Boy, “One of the Largest Steam Trains Ever Built,” and to Amelia Earhart’s 1923 Kissel Goldbug, “The Yellow Peril”.
